What does NAID stand for?
NAID stands for National Association for Information Destruction. In order to obtain NAID Certification, a third party NAID auditor who has earned a Certified Protection Professional accreditation from ASIS International is required to complete an audit of the company.
What is AAA NAID Certification?
NAID AAA Certification verifies the qualifications of certified information destruction providers through a comprehensive scheduled and unannounced audit program. This rigorous process supports the needs of organizations around the world by helping them meet numerous laws and regulations requiring protection of confidential customer information. NAID Certification also meets compliance standards relating to FACTA Final Disposal Rule, FACTA Red Flags Rule, and HIPAA. NAID Certification also requires the specifications of PCI compliance.
As part of the NAID Certification process, three level background checks are completed to ensure that no individual with a known history of crimes will be handling confidential information or material. Employees are required to sign a confidentiality agreement, along with adhering to written policies and procedures relating to the proper destruction of material.
